India
Born in 1974, Mukesh Sharma completed his Bachelors in painting from Rajasthan School of Art, Jaipur and Masters in Fine Arts in printmaking from Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University, Baroda. The artist has hosted several shows namely “Another geography” Visual Art Gallery, India Habitat Centre by curator Dr. Alka Pade in New Delhi; “World Without Boundaries” paintings and drawings, Galleria Corona Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; “Prints and drawings”, American Embassy, New Delhi; “Re[visions]” Long Gallery, by curator Judy Bourke University of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia and “CEMA International Art Centre, Portland, Australia.
Sharma has also participated in more than thirty five selected and juried/curated group shows, art fairs, biennales, art residency programmes and workshops including Shapes and Memories Gallery Veda, Chennai; Parables and Paradoxes by Galleries Apparao & Anant with The Lodhi in New Delhi; India Art Fair in 2016; Architectural Biennale, Venice; 5th Print Symposium National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, Installation & Digital Prints Seminar Illwarra Craft and Arts Networks, Wollongong City Council Cultural Services, Theatrette, NSW, Australia; National Exhibition of Art by National Academy of Art, New Delhi; The Tokyo International Print Biennale, Japan among others.
The artist is also a recipient of many national and international awards like the Rajasthan Lalit Kala State Art Award. His artworks have been covered in numerous publications like in The Wall Journal, The Economic Times, India Today, The Times Of India, The Hindustan Times, The Indian Express, The Hindu, The Australian, The Art India Magazine, etc. Mukesh Sharma’s works are part of prestigious public collections like The National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. His works are also collected world wide as part of numerous Indian and international private and public collections such as The National Gallery of Australia and The Australia Council for the Arts.
Sharma in his artworks brings out the quirk in things that are usually dull and mundane. With a blast of colours and taking the key element from our computers, the artist builds a collage with endless possibilities of imagination.
