India
Born in 1985, Priyanka Rajiv Govil deals with the idea of landscapes in the context of self and urban setup through her minimalistic approach using various texts. She studied painting from Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara between 2004-2010. Significantly she has been experimenting on and with paper.
Priyanka Rajiv Govil has done two solo shows with gallery Art Konsult, Delhi, in 2010 & 2013. She has been part of many group shows in India and abroad in last eight years and recently she has been part of ASYAAF & Hidden Artists Festival, Seoul, South Korea. In 2019, few of her works were exhibited in Stainless Gallery, New Delhi; The Flowers will Start Flowering, Sala Rekalda, Bilbao, Spain; and Dialogue en route Puri, Gallery Art Konsuly, New Delhi. In 2017, during her stay in Zürich, she had a chance to show her works in Open Art Galerie, Obfelden, Switzerland and in a Group show at Flo**, Munich, Germany. Previously, she has shown in Alliance Française de Delhi, Gurgaon; Art Konsult, Delhi, 2014; Religare Arts & WWF-India, Delhi, 2012; ‘Next in Line’, Gallery Blue Spade, Bangalore; ‘Future of Museum Collection-3, Visual Art Gallery, IHC, Delhi; ‘With Love from Baroda’, Hacienda Gallery, Mumbai; ‘Baroda March’, at Gallery Strand Art Room, Mumbai, 2011. Govil has also shown her works in Art Fairs, i.e. Go Tell It On The Mountain, Pune Biennale, Pune, 2015; Art Fair, Dubai; SWAB, Barcelona, Spain; Art Gwangju: 14, S. Korea, 2014; Mohor, Tilting Art Gallery, Pune Biennale, Pune; India Art Fair, 2013 and 2012.
The artist is also a conscious performance artist, exploring the patriarchy that comes with society in regards to women's self-existence and identity. She did performance in Detext, JNU, New Delhi, 2018; LEGS, Basel; Flea Market Free Bier, Switzerland and The Longest Performance Day, VAG, Bengaluru, 2017, KIPAF, 2016 and 2014; Illicit Bodies, Bangalore & LAL, Bangalore, 2014. She was in Switzerland having five months’ funded residency in 2017 and received Shergil Sundaram Foundation grant for a month residency at 1 Shanthi Road in 2016. She has been recipient of prestigious Pollock-Krasner Grant in 2016 and Inlaks India Award in 2010.
