PUJA PURIBorn in: 1976
India
Born in Kolkata in 1976, artist Puja Puri, who currently lives and works out of Mumbai, completed her Bachelor of Fine Art, from College of Art, New Delhi and Masters in Fine Arts from M.S. University, Baroda. Puri also did her MA Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art & Design, University of the Arts, London. The artist has been awarded the British Chevening Scholarship by the British Council in 2002-2003. She qualified at the UGC NET Examination for Lectureship in Visual Art, University Grants Commission. She was a visiting lecturer at the Department of Printmaking at College of Art, New Delhi. In 2005, Puri was involved with documentary photography, Project Aparajita, Voluntary Health Association of India, Andaman Islands. She has participated in several shows like Lapses II curated by Anushka Rajendran, Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai in collaboration with Shrine Empire Gallery, New Delhi and Palimpsest, exploring compound identities in South Asian Art, Aicon Gallery, New York to name a few.
Puri’s works have also been curated in several galleries such as Footprints, Women in Printmaking, curated by Kavita Shah, Gallery Chemould, Mumbai; Southern Graphics Council, Kansas City, Missouri, US and also had her works curated by Ric Spencer, Chelsea College of Art, London.
