Shatrudhan Gupta was born in 1985 and completed his Bachelor of Fine Art and Masters of Visual Arts from Faculty of Fine Arts, Lucknow University. The artist completed his Senior Scholar Research Programme from China Academy of Art, Hangzhou, China. Gupta has hosted numerous solo shows at Xika Art Center, Hangzhou, China; ‘Utopian Fantasies’ sponsored by Apparao Galleries, Magnolias Club, Gurgaon and Lalit Kala Academy, Lucknow. The artist has also been a part of several group shows and has participated at the Lalit Kala Academy, Lucknow; Stadio Di Domizaino, Rome, Italy; 22nd International Biennial of Humour and Satire In The Arts, Gabrovo, Bulgaria; 5th Beijing International Biennale, Beijing, China and Gallery India Ocean, Seoul, South Korea. Gupta has also attended residencies at the Space 118, Mumbai and Anandgram, Sanskriti Kala, New Delhi.
Gupta is a recipient of awards and scholarships like the Chinese Government Scholarship, China; State Lalit Kala Academy Scholarship, Lucknow and the ‘Research Grant’ of Lalit Kala Acedemy, New Delhi. The artist has attended camps and workshops at the China Academy of Art, Zhejiang, China and ‘Abhivyakti’ Creative Workshop on E-Waste org. by ‘Prithivi Innovation’ at IIM Lucknow to name a few.
With his collections showcased at Museum House of Humour & Satire, Bulgaria; Lalit Kala Academy, Lucknow; Space 118, Mumbai and at various other private collections in Germany, Australia, South Korea, Bangkok, Montenegro and Sri Lanka, Gupta in his artworks plays with psychedelic colours and portrays things that are either around him or are in him.
