Born in 1969, Somu Desai graduated with a Fine Art degree from Gujarat in 1992. The artist has attended several camps, workshops and residencies like the Ceangal, Connection Art Residency, Gairloch, Scotland along with being a part of various projects like the participatory projects of Beinn Eighe, Scotland. Desai has also hosted and been a part of exhibitions including the Samsara Arts, Hyatt, Mumbai; Video Wednesday, Gallery Espace, New Delhi; Tree of life, Edinburgh, Scotland; Here & Now, Garys, UK; Global Nomadic Art Project, Korea; Nature Connect, Hungarian Cultural Center, New Delhi amongst others.
Having closely experienced industrialization, Desai through his forms, colours and textures gives a podium to a narration, which cannot be objective and may seek responses that are based on complex situations from his personal life.
